Sodium Phytate, the sodium salt of Phytic Acid, is a chelating agent that binds to trace metals, making them unavailable to bacteria, enhancing the efficacy of cosmetic preservatives. It also provides various skin benefits, including moisturizing, improving skin elasticity, normalizing oily skin, reducing pore size, and helping to lighten skin, as well as potentially improving the appearance of cellulite. With a pH of around 12, Sodium Phytate is fully neutralized and can be added to the water phase of formulations, but not anhydrous formulas, and is not heat sensitive. The recommended usage rate is 0.05-0.5%.
